weather :D, and that's about all I can say. I was out on Long Pond Lake today from 8am till noon. Rented one of Bill's boats to save myself the hassle of setting up my Sea Eagle. I had the place all to myself, but unfortunately even the fish wouldn't give me any company. I tried shallow to deep weedbeds (yes in many spots the weeds have barely died off here, but the lilypads of course are all done for the year), deep points, ledges, dropoffs,.... with tubes, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jigs,..... I just couldn't scare up a fish. I saw a few, but none that would take an offering. Oh well, how many cliches can I use? A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. :D I'll stop at that. Either 1) LPL is not a good Fall lake, 2) I don't know how to fish it in the Fall, or 3) all bets were off after our cold rain here yesterday. At least I have memories of Stissing Mountain two days ago.:beerchug: How long will this Indian Summer last?

Papa John: your conclusions were drawn from my Gauntlet post! LOL.......

for now, give yourself the benefit of the doubt...all waters are not created equally.....there is NOT a great fall bite to be had in all waters.......

and you know, when I went out to lunch at work today, it felt like it was in the upper seventies, really warm!!!

now: one other possibility: yes, it was a cold rain in the areas that got it yesterday, we saw that at Whaley: maybe as the water heated up, the bite might have also......you will never know if the best bite was late in the day.....

yesterday at Whaley we saw our most furious bite at close to 4 pm.....so , there could have been a similar one there today......

for now, all you can deduce is that for these current conditions ,there was not a prounounced bite in the morning......

Yes, I intentionally took my conclusions from your gaunlet post.
Sorry, I did not mean to plagiarize the Evil Tyrant:D. The surprising thing to me was that two days earlier I did quite well on Stissing Mountain Lake, which is a close neighbor to Long Pond Lake, and in many other respects I consider the lakes to be similar (cover, depth, weeds, etc.). The true test would have been to return to Stissing, but instead I opted for variety. Oh well, as I'm typing this, my thoughts are more on firewood than fishing. I'm just glad I took advantage of the Indian Summer when I did.
