I was in the third grade, and clearly remember walking home from school early followed by days of sitting in front of the black and white TV, Thanksgiving week. Everyone was crying. For those of you who were alive, what do you remember?

Mitch: I remember being glued to the TV set....because I saw Oswald get his live by that nutty Jack Ruby.......

it was a very weird time indeed......

even though I was very young and couldn't understand the whole thing, It was very obvious to me that Lyndon Johnson was extremely agitated and nervous about being sworn in and taking over the reins......

I was only three but I vividly remember my mother sitting in front of the tv crying. My only other clear memory of the tragedy is the funeral a few days later. I remember the horse drawn flag draped coffin and again, my mother crying.

Freshmen in High school, nerviously waiting our season opener in basketball.
Remember being glued to the TV for the next few days, seeing Ruby shoot Oswald. Crazy times. There was a show this week on PBS on the Kennedy's, and my daughter was asking me all these questions.
Makes you feel old when you remember this stuff, and your kids are studying it as "History"

Was only 5 and in a friends house playing, remember his moms reaction and crying, remember my mom & dad being glued to the TV for a couple of days. Probably my oldest memory!

Third grade....
and in wonderment as the adult people all around could not stop crying, something I had never witnessed.
Then, I too, saw Jack Ruby get shot on TV, along with young John-John proudly saluting his dad's coffin, and the stoic grace Jackie showed us all through this tough time.
May JFK rest in eternal peace.

I was 18 years old and in Great Lakes, Ill. U.S. Navy boot camp.I was in a gunnery class when the announcement came over the PA System. I was shocked and saddened. The last great Democrat President. And he were alive today he would be shocked at the Liberal, Communist. Democrats of today especially his brother Ted.

Agree with Gary

I think Pearl Harbor, JFK assasination, and 9/11 will all be remembered by folks as to where they were.

Never forget where I was on 9/11... my grandfather could tell me wehere he was on Pearl Harbor to the slightest detail up until his death this year.

Crazy the thing you remember.

JohnnyL,

I agree but I think you may have forgot one that kind of hit this country hard, the 1986 space shuttle Challenger crash.

I remember where I was then, on Hamburg Tpk. in Wayne NJ in my 1968 Mustang, listening to the radio 92.3 FM KROC had just broken into a song to announce the shuttle disaster. I was headed to a friends house who just got out of the hospital after breaking both of his legs.

I also remember where I was on 9-11-01. I had just woke up, had to work to 3am the night before, was drinking my coffee, reading e-mail and checking NYBass and checking a post from MikeDinNYC asking what was going on at the WTC, he could see the buildings clearly from his apartment window, I was also in an AOL IM with him passing info back and fourth as he could not get CNN or any other news.
