I was fishing for smallmouth on Lake Kiwassa in late Septermber and I caught a pretty good size walleye. Ive been fishing the saranac chain since I was little and never heard of any walleyes. I was wondering of anyone else had encountered walleyes or had heard anything about them.

Very interesting. I just did a little net research and it seems that walleye are listed as a species in Lower Saranac Lake. If that's the case, it wouldn't take them too long to get into Kiwassa, I wouldn't think. I fish Kiwassa a lot when I'm up there in the summer but never causght a walleye.

Walleye

I know that they have walleye downstream in the Saranac River in Franklin Falls Flow and Union Falls and in the Saranac itself.

I did hear from Ron P of the region 5 DEC that they are stocked in the Saranac chain.
They make good pike chow !!!
