We spent yesterday fishing the upper Hudson just below lock 5. Tough conditions in a typically good section of river. Dredging activities just downstream of the route 4 bridge has made that section of river even more turbid than I’m used to in Poughkeepsie. Water was way down as well – about 2 feet from where I’m used to it being. Water temps 77 deg. Not much to write about as far as fish – a few small ones. We watched the dredging project for a while, which was interesting. To me, it looked like they were not so much dredging as they were capping an area that they had already dredged. They were loading up a huge barge with fill, apparently intended for deposition out at the site.
We thought of heading up river or over to Saratoga Lake, but ended up bagging it and leaving early.
