and ARBOR it is.......Felix, a quick search of the web should uncover articles or pictures on how to tie that knot.....it is kind of a standard thing for your application.....

The only time I really use that knot for freshwater gear is on a new reel. Other than that I generally leave about a 1/4 spool or so of the old line on and use a blood or an albright knot to connect. Saves a buck or two and let's face it, chances are you're never gonna get down that far anyway.;)

If you're spooling up with any of the superlines a little mono backing is a must. Keeps it from slipping and again saves a few bucks.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response.

Thanks for that diagram JP!

Woody,

Great meeting you as well! I am taking you up on your offer to go out next year! Never been on a bass boat!

That set up is nice! Cant wait to catch a fish on that bad boy!

I also just purchased a Stradic 2500/Bps Extreme combo. Both rods/reels to date remain virgins.....

I hope to "deflower" them before the year ends! :p

OH!! How could I forget! Got the port Eagle fishmark 320! Anyone want to take me out and show me the ropes??? Probably should be on a dif post... its 6:53am. What Am i doing up? Got to back to sleep. or at least try.

All these toys and no fish... Someone has placed a jinx on me. I wonder...

Thanks again to all.

Put me in the same court

Never knew the knot was called an Arbor knot.

For mono and mono=look=alikes, I use the arbor.

About adhesive, personnally, never on mono. I do know those who use double stick tape on braids.

For braids (PowerPro in my case), I fill the spool 1/3 of the way with old mono (arbor knot to start) then tie on the braid with a surgeons knot and fill the rest of the way.

Felix: you have two very very wise decisions:

the setup from Bass Pro is beyond excellent....Gregg and I picked those up 2 years ago at Maryland BPS and I can't tell you how many HUNDREDS of fish we have caught on those setups.....

and you followed what I have pleaded everyone to do with Sonar in picking up that 320......fantastic unit.....

look for the thread on here by MikeyD about his Sonar DVD that will be available soon....you will learn a lot from it....
