Put the boat in around 11:00am..... no breeze to start out with... just glad to be out there.

Tried something different today - deep crankbait.

This lake has some 20' and 30' drop offs... I've caught fish here deep before but never on hard plastic...mostly on C-rigged yamamoto stuff.

The deep crank was producing today. Got three Largemouth to 16" all in over 20' of water (one may have been in about 30')... all on a huge deep running crank (20').....

Got one pickeral shallow.

Note: one of the Bass came up "cold to the touch"..... all released OK.

Miester: I tried a lot of what you did today to no avail....I was kneeling and reeling and getting that baby way down there, but just couldn't connect on that pattern...........again, in 20 to 25 feet of water.......fortunately other things were working, but the deep crank never got going.......

nice fish!!!!!!

John, I had a little help - my 8 year old son was with me and he wanted to fish the middle of the lake with the trolling motor on "3"... lol....

So I planned my fishing around how fast the boat was moving - a light bulb went off and I tied on a DD22. Hooked up immediately....

I think my son has a future as a guide, he kept me on fish !

Mark...

Please tell her what a great guy I am !!!!!
My foot is one foot out the door !!!!
I passed up a Tournament this past weekend.... to do the "Right Thing" and be a DAD.(Watched my children's Soccer Games and hung with them)
I have been blessed with a WONDERFUL wife...She disagrees with alot of things I do ...(Keeps me in check)
I can't wait to bring my children up to Thunder Mountain when they get older...That is when the second foot will be out the door;) .
Your life will change after the birth of your son Mark...I see it in my business and in fishing circles as well...
Your FAMILY is by far the most IMPORTANT thing in your life..
Your addiction(Fishing) comes second... You have to learn to include your family in your passion for the outdoors....
Congrats again on the baby,
Regards,
Woody

Shepherds Lake? In Ringwood?

I used to live right in Cupsaw Lake and Shepherds was right down the road...I could go in the back entrance. I fished it a few times and found it nice in the spring...a little tough in the summer. A buddy of mine slammed the LM one day throwing a jerkbait in the spring. What time do they open up there this time of year? Since I did Turtle Pond one day... I may have to give Shepherd's Lake one more try. See ya...Mark

Mark, yes Ringwood..... since it's a state park, Shepherds open time is officially 8:00am..... (most times it's open about 7:30am) but recently I was there waiting until 8:30am........

They recently had Cupsaw drained down... you could see the whole bottom of the lake without water....quite a sight.
