dude...check out:

interactivebrokers.com

no doubt the cheapest and best imo...1 penny a share!... that means you only pay a buck charge for 100 shares of stock!...amazing compared to the 10 bucks or so the others charge... and you can buy and sell options and futures also... they have 2 great trading stations...1 browser based, the other pc based... you can pick your ECN or have them get you the best price... the executions are immediate... i'm talking 1-3 seconds... forget etrade and ameritrade... i've been using IB for 4 years and have had no problems.

they market themselves to daytraders and professionals, not really consumers like etrade etc. so you have to take a quick exam before they accept your account... but it's super easy and they give you all the answers beforehand anyway...check em out dude!

Thanks for the info Mike! I will check them out. I've been using T.D. Waterhouse and the innumerable fees are starting to get to me.

I am chuckling over here.... I trade NADA ZIP.....and will continue to do so forever.....one less thing to stress about.....finances bore me......

options, futures.........whew.....I'm more worried about my future workout or my future time on the water.......

if I took even one second out of my private life and devoted it to making money other than through my profession, I would feel cheated! LOL......

if necessary, I will work forever.....

I'm trying to assure that my future will include MORE TIME ON THE WATER by working on my future today! :D

Did that make any sense at all? I don't know but it sounded pretty good!

you know Tony, the funny thing is I couldn't handle much more time on the water even if I wanted to....after 8 hours of slinging lures, I need a break....if I was free every day, couldn't do it....

that is why I admire guys like Hugefish where he was able to go day after day in his situation.....

I will confess, I have too many other things in my life that need attention....

enjoy your investing and be careful......

it must be wonderful to be in a position like some people where they can "invest" money in their homes, cars, insurnance and education of their children and still have more money to invest...

I have never had the luxury of that situation, and I make a damn good income......LOL.....

I will also confess that I am not much of a future man....I am definitely more of a here and now fellow.....If I could enjoy something now while I am healthy enough to enjoy it, I would rather spend the money now...my father had no "future"....he died not that long after he retired.....denied himself many things for a future that never came....oh, it came for my mother allright! LOL....she is having a ball! which is good.......

nah, I will put lock and stock and barrel into my own two hands and what they can produce.....for all others I wish them the very best!

John,

I'm not a day trader or anything like that. Years ago when I started my own business I was concerned about saving money for my retirement. At that time I hired a financial adviser and made some initial investments in mutual funds then some select stocks. We did pretty well and as years went by I diversified. Then, my financial adviser retired to Florida and I just kept things the way they were. Eventually, I opened a TD Waterhouse account and did a bit with them but like a mentioned earlier, I don't buy and sell a lot so the fees were starting to bug me. Hence my query.
