You guys are killin' me, I'm not sure why I even check these forums during exam week. Anyway, good luck out there.

BTW, Seth if you have any thoughts of getting out next weekend, I'm game.

Oops!

Sorry Seth! I called your wife today in an attempt to lure her back to her old job, and I mentioned you guys were going fishing this weekend. She didn't seem pleased by this revelation. Sorry! I hope I don't cause you any pain.

Good luck this weekend guys. I'd love to bring the boat down, but I'm just buried this weekend. I've even got six new rods and reels to try out. (I'm starting to like Gander Mtn.)

Hope to see you guys on the ice!

Fred-

Yeah, she had some sort of opinion. Really, if the woman is not mad, you are not fishing enough. But it all worked out. She is now going shopping with Noel's wife while we fish! Pay if I do, pay if I don't....may has well "do".

We may be up to 2 boats for tomorrow! Come on all you overachievers and slackers, you are running out of "liquid time"! Ted, I would even help put your drain plug in! :D Gregg, I bet Zack would love to see how his new truck pulls the boat!!! :D

Noel,

Lora was just reading over my shoulder, she said, "How will a foot of snow stop you guys?". She has a point, I think we can still make it with 4x4 lo....only 1/4 mile to the ramp. Long as the water is not hard!

Actually, looking at the storm track, I think it will go much like the last system. This current high is strong enough, the low should swing down to NC and track up the coast, blasting our downstate friends and letting us fish without the distraction of snow!

Seth,

When have I ever turned down a chance to "Go Fish"?:D But, I just can't! Just tore out another wall, tonight and have the attic sitting on a brace.:D I've got to get that new wall framed tomorrow. If I can get far enough along and there is still liquid H2O, next weekend, I might take a crack at it. Got to get this done!

C'ya on the water,
Ted

Seth,

That's not playing fair! :) Zack just asked on the way home from Olean: "I wonder how the boat is gonna be behind my truck?". I'll be sure he doesn't read your post, that way I won't get as much 'flack' from him.

It hurts not being able to go, so, you guys have fun, and get lots and lots of pictures for us slackers.

I think Lora should ground you for the rest of us! :) Robin should do the same to Noel. :)

Just got off the water. Noel will be along with some good pics, but here is the quick scoop!

Water temp was 36- 40 deepending on location. When we started, the wind was pushing us along nicely. I lost 2 right away, and Noel put a nice one in the boat. About that time, he asked about the "ice". Sure, enough, ICE was forming on the water as we fished. When we backed the trailer in, it broke through some ice arround the edge, but nothing much. Now, Ice was forming! What started out as small chunks, soon began to impeade our progress as the wind set down. It got the the point that the tubes would bounce off the ice, not sink! After a "225 merc ice clearing run", we were able to drag directly behind the boat while using the trolling motor. Soon, Noel hooked up again. This time, due to the ice coverage, the fish "broke ice" when it jumped through the thin ice (1/4" thick or so). It was getting hard to fish, so we ran south to a land with much less ice and got into some more "normal" fish. Good times, but I would say that our liquid water days are nearly over!

Yikes!

Wish I could have been there to see that. Driving conditions were not good around here from last night onward, so I bailed out and stayed home. Glad you guys hooked up though!

With the forecast staying outright cold, it does indeed look like the open water bite is coming to an end for the year.

There's always Keuka... :D
