Just got off the water. Noel will be along with some good pics, but here is the quick scoop!
Water temp was 36- 40 deepending on location. When we started, the wind was pushing us along nicely. I lost 2 right away, and Noel put a nice one in the boat. About that time, he asked about the "ice". Sure, enough, ICE was forming on the water as we fished. When we backed the trailer in, it broke through some ice arround the edge, but nothing much. Now, Ice was forming! What started out as small chunks, soon began to impeade our progress as the wind set down. It got the the point that the tubes would bounce off the ice, not sink! After a "225 merc ice clearing run", we were able to drag directly behind the boat while using the trolling motor. Soon, Noel hooked up again. This time, due to the ice coverage, the fish "broke ice" when it jumped through the thin ice (1/4" thick or so). It was getting hard to fish, so we ran south to a land with much less ice and got into some more "normal" fish. Good times, but I would say that our liquid water days are nearly over!
