Ronnie & I discussed that with them at one of our meetings. At that time they agreed it would not be done. Unfortunately, they haven`t updated there proposal, so I think it important to remind them at the meetings. I don`t think it will be an issue. There is also a change in wording that would allow DEP to pull any boat with 10 feet of the high water mark , so basically any boats on the shoreline they will be able to pull, THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM, and if it goes through boat owners will have a huge problem.
Gotta say - DEP is right about this... there are idiots on Craigslist posting Kenscio boats for 4K and 5K... clearly there just to make money. Isn't fair to those who want to use the place.when we had the meeting with them, one of their biggest concerns was the price gouging going on at Kensico, and rightfully so....
After reading the stuff - this is my biggest issue - now I only have 1 boat where it's a challenge - but I do see their point- some of these boats are 5 feet in the water come spring... that's the guys who are ruining things. There is also a change in wording that would allow DEP to pull any boat with 10 feet of the high water mark , so basically any boats on the shoreline they will be able to pull, THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM, and if it goes through boat owners will have a huge problem.
I can't understand why any of these controversial type decisions were not presented to us in the DEP meetings?

I 100% agree someone should be able to sell a boat if they no longer want it. If you can sell a boat and can get good money for it - I have no issue there. But there are people using these spots (and not just Kensico) as a business..... load up reservoirs with boats and then sit there waiting to sell them. There are locations that 1 person has 5 boats in one single boat area - it's really frustrating to be locked out of a reservoir or a decent boat launch cause someone is using them as a showroom. The reservoirs are like public parks... yet somehow people are using them to set up lemonade stands and do buisness.... that the problem...The no smoking thing makes a lot of sense and why is it a concern that people are selling kensico boats at high prices...if you don't want it don't buy it...its better to have a chance at a spot then none at all..jmho

There has been people fishing an smoking on the res since the 50s. I dont recall any forest fire or increase in water pollution from cig butts. When i fish the res. I often will enjoy a cigar or 2 but i get this rule..one reason is lot of people just toss their smokes into the water...another and even worse is the chance of a fire in the woods
