Some interesting nuggets in that PDF... looks like they are going after the guys selling boats... no boat transfers on closed reservoirs and a limit to how many you can own.... that will be interesting....

Although my fav is a "No Smokin Rule".... gonna laugh at first person who gets hit with a ticket on that one!!!

The no smoking rule is laughable. Smoking/vaping is 100% legal and you’re outdoors in 100s of acres of land an water. This is all not set in stone yet hope it gets thrown out.
What really pisses me off is if you own a boat on a closed res. What happens if u pass away? You have to pull your boat? You can have it transfered over go a kid or grandkid? My father owns two boats on kensico an im really concerend about that law. May jus have him transfer it over to me in case this all goes through

There is also a change in wording that would allow DEP to pull any boat with 10 feet of the high water mark , so basically any boats on the shoreline they will be able to pull, THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM, and if it goes through boat owners will have a huge problem.

Ronnie & I discussed that with them at one of our meetings. At that time they agreed it would not be done. Unfortunately, they haven`t updated there proposal, so I think it important to remind them at the meetings. I don`t think it will be an issue.
They also wanted stored boats to be better secured when leaning on a tree. The reason for that was because a strong wind would blow them over, & water would get into the over turned boat creating a mosquito (health) problem. We agreed on that issue.

when we had the meeting with them, one of their biggest concerns was the price gouging going on at Kensico, and rightfully so....
Gotta say - DEP is right about this... there are idiots on Craigslist posting Kenscio boats for 4K and 5K... clearly there just to make money. Isn't fair to those who want to use the place.

After reading the stuff - this is my biggest issue - now I only have 1 boat where it's a challenge - but I do see their point- some of these boats are 5 feet in the water come spring... that's the guys who are ruining things.

The other one is limiting the amount of boats you can have - not sure if that means 1 per reservoir max - or a reservoir wide limit.... would like to know more on that one - I don't see why I should be limited to adding a boat on XXX reservoir if ti is open because I have a boat somewhere else.... now if you wanna limit guys having 2-3-4 boats on one body - I'm not totally against that.

I can't understand why any of these controversial type decisions were not presented to us in the DEP meetings?

That`s because you were sleeping. We did talk about most of what is proposed. We discussed at length the 10 ft proposal, & told them it wouldn`t work. They agreed with us, but never took it out of the proposal. Paul Lenz & Tom Davidock are going to be at the meeting for the DEP. EVERYBODY with concerns, & wants to put their 2 cents in(actually 3 minutes) should go and say something. Ronnie & I have already talked to them, & have sent them e-mails voicing our concerns. If you can`t get to the meeting you can e-mail them at [email protected].

The no smoking thing makes a lot of sense and why is it a concern that people are selling kensico boats at high prices...if you don't want it don't buy it...its better to have a chance at a spot then none at all..jmho

I 100% agree someone should be able to sell a boat if they no longer want it. If you can sell a boat and can get good money for it - I have no issue there. But there are people using these spots (and not just Kensico) as a business..... load up reservoirs with boats and then sit there waiting to sell them. There are locations that 1 person has 5 boats in one single boat area - it's really frustrating to be locked out of a reservoir or a decent boat launch cause someone is using them as a showroom. The reservoirs are like public parks... yet somehow people are using them to set up lemonade stands and do buisness.... that the problem...

There has been people fishing an smoking on the res since the 50s. I dont recall any forest fire or increase in water pollution from cig butts.
The rule that is in the new laws says its for 2nd hand smoke purposes. Yes its that stupid.
