I'm looking to get a portable fishfinder that can be easily moved from a kayak to another boat or kayak, so something that comes with a case and suction cup mount is probably in order. I am trying to stay under $200. I have been looking at the Humminbird PiranhaMax 176i portable and the Garmin Echo 150 portable bundle. The Piranhamax has a very basic GPS function, but what are the limitations? Any thoughts on these units or suggestions for any other choices?

Thanks,
Nick

I was looking at the fishin buddy too, but I had reservations about the way it clamps to the kayak. It looks like you need a nice flat surface which I don't think I have on the kayak. The other thing I wasn't sure about was the way the transducer is on a fixed pole.

Humminbird PiranhaMax 196ci PT - is the way to go! a fishing buddy is a good choice BUT keep in mind a PiranhaMax 196ci PT can be used anywhere any time (it's a great ice fishing rig) while it might be a little more on costly

i have had Humminbird portables color and grey scale i love them! they are tough and last and the batteries never seem to need charging!

here are some links

i also would get the transducer holder i have found that to be a great value when traveling and renting a motor boat!
