Nothing to do with Smallies or largemouth but had to share . Went down to Jones Beacj early this morning and had a GREAT time . Hooked into numerous Blue Fish , and 2 Stripers with many run offs . Beautiful sunrise on the beach and what a sight seeing the water boil a few feet from the surf as fish chased bait totally out of the water . Betwen the sunrise , calm conditions , FLOCKS of gulls diving in different areas and you KNOW it's for bait being chased is a heck of a sight . Can't wait to return this weekend . We nailed fish on both bunker chunks and top water plugs . Jumbo sized Rapala Skitters

BLITZ TIME!!!

John K,

Is that the first time you've seen a blitz??? My first time was a few years ago my dad and I were out on the beach in Jersey, he had told me about it but just could not picture it, then as the sun broke at the edge of the horizon, if you looked north you could see the fish jumping and the bunker boiling, just thousands of small bunker beaching themselves. I was wading at the time and could feel fish bumping into my legs. I backed up onto the beach just looking in disbelief meanwhile my dad is hauling in fish, I too joined in and still could not believe what I was seeing and doing, as fast as I could cast I had a fish, not big fish but legal size one after another, in an hour or so it was all done.

Boy that was fun but have not one that in a few years now!!!

Scott , I've seen many blitzes while out at sea but never like this ! RIGHT behind the breakers . WHAT a sight ! what the guys on the beach called peanut bunker ( Like I know what I'm doing in the surf) LOL These fish were doing everything they could to get away from the blues . Water looked more like a blender than anything else . All that was missing was a red mist above the water
