This morning while packing the car to come back from vacation I left my switch on and killed my battery. I had jumper cables but couldn't find anyone with a battery. What to do? Car 12v, fish finder battery 12v! But will it work? Out of desperation I hook my jumper cables to the littler terminals and to the car. Fired right up! Anyone know if this is safe? It worked and you can charge he battery off a car with an aftermarket charger.

I've done the same on my motorcycle in a pinch.... it's not the most safe thing as the little battery will get pulled down in charge real quick and then likely overcharged from the main battery / alternator once the engine fires.... but in an emergency situation - where you do it quick and disconnect it immediately - no harm no foul in my book!!!
