On the water at 7:00am and off fairly quickly due to several early morning interruptions from home via cell phone (I hate when that happens). Oh, and a screw fell off my trolling motor giving a whole new meaning to the word steering (I had none, lol)
In the short time I was there i fished the boat rental side under the bridge.
Buzzed em shallow and over weed beds, no takers. Pop-r, no takers.
Cranked deep weed lines, no takers.
Senkos in and around weeds, up close to wood, no takers.
I found a few nice spots way in the back, but by then I was really just looking around because I had to get back home unexpectedly.
I also threw a Muskie lure and trolled a bit, but really didn't dedicate much time to it.
Beautiful morning, but turned bad for me by 8:30, lol.
Thanks Huge... John I read the post you are referring to...unfortunately my trip was cut to short today to apply any advice, lol.... If I had a choice I probably would have started later in the morning as there was a bite starting to happen as I was leaving.
Last year I had a few good days there in spring.....
Miester, I love your fishing logic, and thoroughly enjoy all of your posts, I would consider this coming year a disaster if I don't get to meet you in one of your various endeavors.....sure hope you can make one of our little sorties...
besides the fishing get togethers, we do a lot of offseason stuff, like a big breakfast on the SAT morning before the Rockland Fishing show, last year we had a seminar at Mike's restaurant.....
locally, many of us met for informal luncheons on WED......I was there at Leigh and Rich's NY boat show and hope to get more people to go there this year......
we always get a few people to take a trek down to BAss Pro in Maryland although this year, we may opt for the shorter ride to the new Cabelas in PA...
many many things.....and if worse comes to worse, maybe we can just arrange a fishing trip one day on one of our respective waters.......
We had our final club tournament of the season on Monksville last Saturday....it was a good day of fishing. Slow in the morning but turned on around noon time. You can see the results on the tournament part of the forum...I got first and lunker!!! Nice way to end the season. Monksville is loaded with quality bass, but it can be tough as heck sometimes...like most NJ lakes..later, Mark
Nice catch Mark, congrats. If my day went as planned I was going to hit the wire towers about mid day..... I knew going in the early am was working against me.... (I like to fish the warmest part of the day in the Fall and early Spring).
John, I went to that show a few years back before I got into Bass fishing..... I may check it out this year....
