Holy Cow! What a great 4 days.

I had off from work, and because Melissas family had to travel to have Thanksgiving with us, we celebrated on Saturday. This left me with esentially 3.5 days to fish. Well, let me tell you, it was fantastic!

I caught at least 10, maybe 12 smallies in the 4 - 4.12lb, and many more between 1 and 3. Probably caught 20 a day, but it was the average size of these smallies that had me going - phew! The best part was that you can go to the bank, pitch a jig, and catch a fathead, then a big smallie right next to it! I couldn't believe how shallow these smallies were. It was almost like spring! (not that I would know .......lol). Then, you could also move out to 20ft and catch a bunch of smaller fish (1-3's) on a blade. Again, great action.

Anyway, if you guys get a chance this week - get out there. I took Mike and Ttony today. We fished for 4 hours and caught 8 fish, including 2, possibly 3 over 4lbs - again, amazing fishing!

It wont be long now till this water turns crunchy!

Water temps - 46-48

Pat , that is so great to hear.....I was half thinking about WED however, they are talking about thirties high with very high winds....I agree, the ice skim at the shorelines will soon appear....

might have to give in and winterize the boat.....

Pat -

Way to go! I had a feeling that it was not as bad as it sounded a few weeks ago! Those smallies just have a way of hiding sometimes!!

We must get you over to this end of the state next year! I am sure you can hitch a ride in my boat anytime!!

Mahopac

Way to go Pat! I wrote asking about Mahopac last week and was hoping to hear good news. Maybe the lake just needed a rest seeing the pounding it took this last year plus the other problems that existed this year.(no weeds, Carp ,etc) Was talking to Gary Menchen and he had thought you put the boat away. I thought if you were still fishing you would rebound and finally connect. Great job. If you read my post for yesterday I did pretty good. That could of been my last trip unless the weather cooperates. This week could be very cold and we might get rain Fri-Mon. If all things fall together might just try Mahopac. Nice to see you had a great weekend. Love those Smallies. FOOTBALLS.

I hear you Bill, but I still have one question for you. Why would you want to buy that peice of crap? Everyone knows that there arent any fish there. Afterall, you can go and catch 4-5lb smallies everywhere - can't you......

lol - Im glad to see that she finally came out of the funk. This might also be the end of the cycle that I spoke about earlier, but who knows. I had Lee Bailey on the lake two Saturdays ago, and he was saying that there are many bodies of water accross the country that have experienced what we experienced this year on Mahopac. The interesting thing is that he was saying that we really don't know when these downward cycles start and begin since the organized sport of bass fishing is really only 25-30 years old. Before that, people fished for bass, but it was not the "norm" to study these bodies of water. Without real "DATA" we are only guessing.

I found that interesting.

Anyway, Bill, you can pick up your deed to the lake at any time - that place sux!

lol

Heck, Pat...I been fishing for a LONG time , and I never caught a five pound smallie YET....Maybe now that I am a lake-owner I can get one....LOL

I will slide the six quarters under your doorway in an envelope.

Wow!

John,

I can't believe you are actually going to give that place the business after what they did to you on that outing! Especially with your "high morals". Why the change of heart??

Just curious,

Vinny and Paul: the Father, the young girl at the desk....they are my main irritations......I have always gotten along fine with Kenny, he is the one, the only one, who is working hard there, in fact, he keeps it going....

he does all the repair work and countless other things....he has always been helpful to me.......

the ramp fiasco at our last get together was caused by the Dad, who drove by the ramp at night, saw it open and blocked it without consulting anyone why it was left open.....

essentially, on top of everything else, as Richard Gere said in Officer and a Gentleman, " I got nowhere else to go!".......

until I find a suitable replacement, and I didn't even have the time to look, I went with Kenny who did it for me last year and my boat was fine when I started her up at the beginning of this season.......

at first I was going to use the Marina at Oscawanna, but I hadn't been there in about 4 months.....Kenny knows me.......
