Looking for a Bass Club?

1st Bassmasters of Sullivan Co. NY, the oldest B.A.S.S. affiliate in the area, is looking for new members.

Interest in tournament fishing is on the rise, and due to a lot of effort by our members, First Bassmasters is currently the fastest growing bass club in NY State.

Our current members live as far South as NYC and as far North as Liberty. Other members are as far East as Kingston, or as far West as Matamoras, PA. We try to schedule events that are no more than a 3hr drive for anyone.

At First Bassmasters our primary concern is to enjoy the sport of Bass Angling. While we all look forward to friendly competition, we insist on good sportsmanship, and cooperation; it is even written into our By-Laws.

This past season we had the most active Tournament Schedule of any club in the state; 15 Club tournsments on 12 different bodies of water, located in 4 different states. Additionally we held an Open Tournament in July on Swinging Bridge. Next season we plan to offer an equally challenging and varied tournament schedule.

Additionally, we made a donation of Five Hundred dollars to the NY State B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation Scholarship Fund. As our roster continues to expand, giving us more "man-power", we hope to have additional fundraisers, and to sponsor an event(s) for kids.

For further information about club membership, or if you have any questions at all, please check out our website at:

Oldest B.A.S.S. Club in area?

I'm not sure whether 1st B/M is older then Watershed B/M which got B.A.S.S. Charter in 1974 and I certainly don't think they were before Long Island B/M which signed up with B.A.S.S. in 1970. Correct me if I am wrong.

Gary,

I should have been more specific... by "area" I was referring to the Catskill region. I do not know if 1st Bass was an active club when the State Federation was formed in1972, (I am actually waiting to hear back from the state regarding the actual date of our charter) but I do know that at least one of our founding members was involved with NYSBCF in the begining.

Interesting, that LI B/M was with B.A.S.S. before there was a State Federation. I wonder how many other clubs pre date the Federation.
