I am happy about the wind and cold today. It "forced" me to go bowling in a local 'Beat the House' tournament held every Sunday. I was fortunate enough to win it and then win 5 consecutive pot games!!!! Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile!!!! I needed the cash bigtime!:beerchug:

LOL....AHAHHAHAHAHAHHA.....

John , for those not in the know, is a solid 200 plus average competition bowler......

Don't get me started...When we were kids we played FOOTBALL, HOCKEY, BASEBALL and LACROSSE.
Huge...I can't even believe that you admit growing up in Congers....(Mike Avery...You weren't on the North BOWLING TEAM were you?)
Huge....Spend a little time at New City Bowl when you were a kid?
Boys from South played OUTDOOR sports in the rain and snow.

Woody, I was more of a King Pin (West Nyack) guy, although I did bowl in New City as a Senior in High School. Although I was not on the basketball team I would have schooled half the team anyhow! LOL! Baseball...after winning it all in the 6th grade (LOL!) and making the All-star team I hung up my plastic cleets because it was cutting into my carp fishing time! LOL! Football - I only weigh 160 now, how much do you think I weighed in High School!!!!? LaCrosse - that was for the Valley Cottage/Nyack guys. Hockey...oh boy do I look foolish on skates!

oh man, you are taking a dredging here John! LOL......

I did a lot of bowling many moons back, but with my chronic tendinitis problem that I deftly work around in my workouts and fishing, I just cannot work around it in Bowling and so I rarely go, however, if I could, I would love to bowl more as that is a game that you really see yourself improve as you put more time in.....

and dont feel bad about the high school sports... I was not nearly big enough then to play those levels of varsity sports despite being a jock....

you know Nicky, funny thing, some of my biggest Pickerel of the year have been caught in this cold water period at Wampus but this late fall, oddly, they have been missing! it was last year with Pete at this time that I inadvertently and unconscienably tried to thumb that damn pickerel!!

Speaking of bowling.........
When I moved to NY last year, I took my 2 kids bowling in Warwick around March of '02. We were seated next to a nice woman with her 2 kids. She told me she too had recently moved upstate from Staten Island with her firefighter husband. She offered an invite to me and my family to stop by her house anytime as she had 14 acres. My kids could play with her kids and ride dirtbikes or fish on their pond. She said she had great neighbors and they had picnics all the time. One of her kids caught up to me on the way out and handed me a piece of paper with their phone number on it. At the time I thought it was kind of cute that the kids wanted us to come over and play. I thought it was nice but never persued.
Her name was Mary Koenig and she's on the front page of the Post today. I didn't know it, but at the time, her husband left her and her kids for her best friend (whose firefighter husband died 9/11). Her poor kids were heartbroken
