winterized your boats? HUH? LOL.....

now I know that Noel and some of the crazy WNYers wouldn't dream of that right now, I would love to see a percentage of how many members of say, Outcast, Atlantic , Alliance, Bergen, etc....have thrown in the towel??

C'mon guys, here is your chance to have some plain fun for a change and not look over your shoulder at what the other guy is doing!

UNWINTERIZE!!!

LOL.......

As a proud Salt City Bassmaster and CNY fisherman I can say my tournament fishing is done.

However, I have a least one more and maybe two more weekends of fun smallie fishing at Oneida Lake. The bronzebacks are feeding heavy. Despite the 41 degree water temps last weekend we put about 25 in th boat in 5 hours. Mostly between 2-3 lbs. The don't compare with those Erie giants but they sure are fun. Only saw one other boat on the whole lake.

Tubes and jerkbaits were the tickets...........

crazy WNYers
Hey, I represent that remark!! LOL!!

It's funny, not too many years ago, none of us around here would even consider keeping our boats available at this time of year. I remember in the late 90's, when I first started up my "Last Cast Tournaments", ALL of them were in October. The reason for this, NOBODY ELSE HAD TOURNAMENTS THIS LATE IN THE SEASON! Now it is common place for some of the open trails to have tournaments throughout October, and in Avon Anglers case, through mid November. So now my Last Casts have migrated into late November and possibly into early December (on the Western Finger Lakes we can) because nobody has them that late. There is no better fishing on our lakes than right now, at least for consistantly large bags of fish. And it seems like this year, the largemmouth are just as playfull as the smallies for some guys.

I'm with Noel

I wouldn't dream of putting my boat up until (usually) around X-Mas time.

A few years ago, not many of us realized what a gem we had around here. Now we see that almost all of our lakes will put out big numbers and size of smallmouth. Of course, Lake Erie is in a class all by itself.

I'm hoping for one of those really mild winters (no snow on the roads and no ice on the lakes) where I can give those mid-winter smallies a shot. They tell me that Keuka Lake can be awesome in January and February. I bet Conesus can be, too. I've got my fingers crossed. The boat may not get put away, all winter. Ah, one can only hope!:D

C'ya on the water,
Ted

Crazy??!!??? Sure, that sounds about right! BTW, what is "winterize"? My boat is ready, 13 months a year! Why would anyone "put the boat away"? My first year here in WNY, I got on a good smallie bite in early Feb (it was a bit slow in Jan)....the lake never froze!!!

Bring it on!!!

I had my boat winterized last week. Unfortunately, I keep my boat in an outdoor marina and not in a cozy garage as some others are lucky enough to do. I'm kind of sorry I did it already though. Hey Joe P---wanna fish?

The saddest holiday for me is and always will be Thanksgiving.....

Over that weekend, I usually fish and then put my baby away for the 3 months.

I would never dream of winterizing her earlier as this is my favorite time to fish.

hmmmm, lets see...
have the water to my self - everyone else is shootin birds, deer or whatever moves
water is quite- no annoying jet skis buzzing around
no boat wakes
and the fish are aggressively feeding

What could be better?:beerchug:

The motor has been winterized and stored ... The boat however, is taking a nice trip to sunny Kilgore, TX for a visit to the factory for warranty repairs ... Doesnt look like she'll see a single snowflake this year :)

Boat's not Winterized!!!

But.......I have a deal with my better half, I went Deer hunting for the whole week last week, I can fish whenever I want to from April to Deer hunting. Dec. is a very busy month, Jan., Feb. and March is time to work in the house and if the job is not finished when it's time to fish it waits until I'm done with the Outdoors.
Gee why is the Guy calling us wimpy, the one who only fishes on Wednesday. Maybe he is not allowed to fish on the weekend, and by the way how many overnights do you do fishing, huh ??? I suspect not too many!!! Now who looks WIMPY???
