Hogs gone Wild on Rockland

Plans to fish Mahopac with Joe P got deflated when I received the call that he had some tire problems. No problem...I'll just ask my retired Dad where he wants to go. Rockland, Congers, or Welch. He picked Rockland. Damn good choice Dad!

Things started out painfully slow with not even a sniff on our buzzers. We ran into Ed Pitlak who just fished a couple of hours in the morning and got 7 fish on a variety of techniques, but we were still not producing. That is until my Dad got this 3lb+ fish on his $.99 buzzbait.

I also got a 3lber and then the Hog festival continued the remainder of the day. We caught 12 fish over 3lbs, including my two over 4lbs and Dad with a 5.1lb slob. Our best 5 fish were over 20LBS!!! I also lost a monster that I am still thinking about. This lake is unbelievable!!!!

<center>Here is my 4.1lber:

Dad with bragging rights and his 5.1lber

A 4.2lber that bitch slapped my buzzer.

We even cranked for awhile after KOZ1542 mentioned that he had gotten a couple on cranks. We got two smallies and lost a couple more.

The lake is Pea Green right now with certain areas as thick as wet paint. There was not a ripple on the lake today with great cloud cover. I was in Heaven!!!!!! Best of luck to those fishing the tourney tomorrow. Looks like you guys will have some big potential bags. Sorry I have to miss it.

Joe
watch: tomorrow everyone will struggle! HAHAHAHAH.....

the fish are there, that is for sure...just amazing......next year, when Gregg and I are "car-toppable" again, we will have that option and do your lake when it is hot.......

again, just a fabulous year for you my man......
WOW. Now how many 4pounders is that? More than I can count. Great Job.
sheesh that place is jammed with Bass...

I guess cartop only is a pretty good way to keep the big ones......

geez.......
John...I can't imagine that there will be a struggle on the lake (Today now). I am still pissed that I can't make it. Some decent dough on the line.
I just noticed you said the lake was Pea Green.....

Last summer a local lake I fish all the time (which is normally gin clear) turned Pea Green for about two days.....

I fished it one evening under those conditions and banged out over half a dozen nice LM in less than 45 minutes....

I felt the extra "cover" gave me a big advantage over the normally gin clearwater.... the fish were very aggressive and not boat shy in the least.
Nice Fish,A few years back(maybe quite a few) a catch of fish like that was only a dream in this area,Kudo's to all the fishermen & clubs that have made this possible here in the Northeast,Tightlines,Mark:beerchug:
I can't win!!!!! I just got word that people are "annoyed" at me for fishing on Rockland the day before an "event". Please! Two people that are in the tourney fished it yesterday. I never ever fish the lake within 2 days of a tourney, if I am participating. I had no intentions of even fishing there yesterday until my trip with Joe P was foiled. My posts of these big fish also do nothing but promote the lake and the business that happens to be on it.
Huge,

Great job once again catching those cows on Rockland Lake....excuse me, I meant to say Hogland Lake !!!

I'll trade you a day on Kensico Reservoir which also harbors cows ;) for an opportunity to fish Hogland Lake :D :D :D

Ronnie
John...your prediction was correct. No limits were brought in today, and less than 10lbs took first place. Ed Pitlak (Pit25) took first and Andrew Bornn came in second. I am sure the tougher fishing had to do with the passing of the rain. I guess I lucked out with the timing on my trip.

Big fish were still weighed in though. I heard there was a 5 1/2 lber and one over 4lbs, as well as a 3.5lb smallie.

Sounds like the ultimate compliment to me. Guess they were upset that you would sting ALL the fish in the ENTIRE lake and there would be none left for tourney day. :p LOL

Nice fish by the way!! :beerchug:
prefishing

They want to ban prefishing then they will cry about buzzbaiting then they will cry about the use of a fishing rods and then you guys can get rid of the boats then you guys will be fishing with soda cans and 30 feet of line in a float tube spitting tobacco juice all over the lake LOL. 5bass

Huge! Screw them! Idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!:cussing:
Welcome to my world.........

You will get used to it. It really is a form of a compliment, but it will take you some time to come to that conclusion. Hell, I had someone sabotage my boat - almost 6 gallons of water in my fuel tank, costing me $2000.00 in damage to a blown motor. I was told by my mechanic that there is NO WAY for 6 gallons of water to get in there - it was placed there. He told me sabotage - its not my paranoia - its real.

So, my advice would be to just be careful, keep smiling, give as much help as possible to others and you should be ok.

Pat Xiques
Pat, wow....that is scary stuff. These guys are all good friendly people, but I just don't understand their thinking. I am not worried about any sabbotage!!! LOL!
Six Gallons?? Damn! I told them 10 Gallons, and I paid them a pretty penny also! Can't get good illegal help anymore these days! LOL........

amazing Pat, but knowing human nature, it really doesn't surprise me......

the way to beat you is to just outfish you! like the NIKE commercial, JUST DO IT!

not easy, but the way to do it.......

not all the other bullcrap........
Pat, that is "F"in ridiculous. I am pissed that happened to you. Unfathomable that some people suck that much.
G
Since Pat brought it up....

He JUST told me the story within the last week...I have to say that I was angered to say the least.... I couldn't believe that someone or ANYONE would stoop that low...
This is a perfect example of what sucks in the community...
Tight Lines,
Woody
Amen Woody. That was just one of the incidents that drove me away from TX's for a while. I just do not understand the reason the reason to do crap like that. Just like I never understood why someone would want to win SOOOOOOO badly that they would cheat. I know of a guy that was banned from fishing TX's in the state of CT because he got caught cheating. seems this fellow actually cut out the floor of his ranger, and put livewell tanks in the floor - covered up by the carpet. He was bringing largemouth to TX's (he got caught on Candlewood is what I was told) and weiging them in at the end of the day.

F'ing ponderous..........

Anyway, that is my tale of woe - lol :)
