And guess what? I didn't fish one second!!! Hehe!! I took a trip this past weekend up to the Adirondacks with my wife to get away and check out some potential fishing lakes. We stayed in Warrensburg at a great Bed & Breakfast on Wednesday & Thursday night. We took a ride on Thursday and I scouted out Schroon, Loon, Friends, Paradox, and Brant Lakes. I checked out a house my bass club is interested in renting this summer on Schroon and it looked great. Schroon has a terrific launch at the south end....nice concrete ramp...and a saw a few nice size bass swimming around in the water (man, I wish I brought a rod with a jerkbait or a spinnerbait on it). There was a nice looking lake, though much smaller, before I reached Paradox Lake called Eagle Lake. All the lakes have great looking structure and scenery. On Friday we headed up to the Saranac/Lake Placid area. What a great looking place! I have never been up there and the lakes in that area are beautiful! I stayed at the Best Western right across from Flower Lake and we drove up to the Upper Saranac and there are lakes....lakes...and more lakes. If you want to take a nice drive the trip around the Upper Saranac is a nice one. On Saturday we drove around (well as far as we could) Lake Placid. I'm ready to go back up with my bass boat!!! I could spend the entire summer up there and probably fish a different lake every day! If anyone has fished any of the lakes I mentioned or has a personal favorite I would like to hear about it. Take care, Mark

Schroon is a tough lake to fish!!! I've heard nothing but complaints.

However, I've had luck on Brant (another free launch! Although, nowhere near as nice as the Schroon Horicon launch you referred to). Brant is a real "fishy" place lots of both SM and LM.

I have never fished it, but have heard tons of very good information on Loon Lake...Plus it's small so you can cover the water.

Paradox and Eagle are traps.

As far as the Saranacs...doesn't take very long on this board to figure out how we feel about that place!

As with WBill, my experiece is vastly tilted toward Upper Saranac. I'll be there First weekend in May (16'th Annual "Fish-n-Puke Weekend"), and for our annual 10 idyllic days in July.

I'm salivating to see if the toothies next season are half as aggressive as they were this season up there...

Best of luck.

Bob
