I've had the Karma about a week. I didn't read any reviews about it before buying it and I wish I had. After 8 days I'm already having problems with it. I tried to contact the customer service team about it and, just like I've read online, they wanted to move the problem to email and out of chat. What I've read is that this will take months to resolve. Luckily I purchase from Best Buy, and they have a 15 day return policy. Returning it tomorrow.
Disappointing. I have to say that I like how the drone flew. But their customer service is a nightmare. And from what I've read, this drone is a ton of problems.

I know a couple of regular guys who post on the site who each have YouTube channels and in their videos they'll have overhead (aerial) shots of the place they are fishing . It's much like in post where someone will conclude with a scenic photo with a sunset etc .

The GoPro is aptly named , as it enables more than the arm stretched selfie . These are true sport/action cameras. The camera drones just takes it to a higher level . Allowing an average joe record and capture their action with shots that are much like the pros .
They way most anglers are mum about fishing spots like the whiting out or blurring backgrounds. I doubt you'll see reservoir drone or GoPro footage in guys reports .

regardless, I am just curious as to what fishing uses it might be for, as I have never used a drone before and would love to know how it might be used in our sport....

You gotta give the guy credit. He used a Jitterbug on a sunny afternoon in open water. And caught a nice sized smallie. Who would've thought that was the secret lure of the day? !! Gotta laugh at that one...

Fishing wise I suppose you could use a drone during the spawn. That way you could spot fish w/o spooking them. I'm willing to bet that Humminbird or Lowrance has some R & D with linking a drone/camera to their units.

I can see it now.... Drop in a couple waypoints on your graph and watch a drone take off and give you an aerial view of the spot you just entered. And your 2nd generation Ultrex trolling motor will get you there at the touch of a button.

yeah, it will come to that, eventually.....I would guess though, that the drone would have to be pretty close to the water surface in order to have the resolution and detail to show beds....

now, it seemed pretty noisy when it started up, I don't know if it gets more quiet as it goes along, also, I could see how, from the water's perspective ( the bass looking up), the drone might resemble a bird of prey and could possibly scatter them.....

Doc,
Just talk to your son and he will tell you all there is to know about the drone rage in sports and everywhere.
You don't need a helicopter anymore and every fishing show uses these now.

Any update on how your drone is working?

OK, so it has been a very long process to get to this point.

I'm going to make this very long story very short, but post a video later to my YouTube channel that will go through the whole ordeal.

I crashed the drone back in June. I was with two other people. I had only launched it and within seconds I couldn't control it. This was after I had had problems landing it the day before. It flew into a tree, then fell into the Chenango River.

Yes, GoPro finally sent me a new one, and a new Hero 4 Black, BUT it took over 2 MONTHS and a lot of back and forth. And my new one has already begun to give me problems.

If you're looking to buy a drone, get the DJI Phantom.

Just a little update: my second Karma drone did the same thing, this time (luckily?) it flew straight into a willow tree (softly...sort of?) and after about two hours I was able to get it back. I haven't crashed it again yet, but I have started to kind of figure out what trends cause it to lose control, or be unresponsive to commands. That being said, I would not get this drone. Go with DJI.
