Hello Everyone,

First watch the video link pasted below. This is going to have a significant impact on the reservoir system. Maybe I am being pessimistic, but I don't see this being good for the fishing. Also, will DEP be coordinating the draw down to have the least negative impact on spawning periods? Has DEP evaluated how this will impact the reservoirs ecosystems? And is there a plan to mitigate negative consequences. What will happen to fish populations ? They say 8 months, will there be delays? When is the exact start date? Will DEP be holding public hearings about this? Lots of questions, hopefully someone will have some optimistic responses about this.

Guys, The DEP has already started this work. They have started to clean the Aqueduct going down to Kensico from the Catskills. That started last year. You may have noticed both Cross River & Croton Falls Reservoirs were down this fall. Now they are back up. This will be going on until 2022-23 affecting different Reservoirs at different times. I tried to get answers as to what Reservoirs will be affected when. As of now they claim they don`t know. I will get further updates this spring.

They haven't shut down the Delaware water system yet. NYC will be using 2 water systems instead of 3. Thats the main issue of low water levels on the croton water system. It is said to be shut down for 8 months in 2022.

well, you have good cause for worry, rest assured, that fishing, or the impact on fishing, will be the LAST thing on their minds when they make up their plans
That`s pretty much what they told me, & what they say all the time. Their primary goal is to supply clean drinking water to NYC. What they never seem to realize is that a healthy fishery MEANS you will have clean drinking water. With a little effort you can have a win,win situation.

damn! I didn't know that Croton was being lowered again.....Now, Jeff: I have to ask you to elaborate here: when you say "down 3 feet", do you mean a total 3 foot drop in the actual water level, or, do you mean 3 feet recessed from the previous shore marker....

because a 3 foot drop overall, is a tremendous amount of drawdown: in some of my locations, which are shallow flats, a 3 foot drop could mean the water edge being anywhere from 50 to 100 feet out from where it was.....

Hey John , I estimated by looking at rock walls , bridge footings etc . so 3 ft from looking at high water mark down . Getting my boat in the water I would say I dragged it about 8 ft from the shorelines normal high

I remember the "Bramble" that grew on Titicus during that time, that was great to fish after they filled it back up!
