John, I agree, the worst possible conditions will exist this weekend....

remember last weekend and my Indian summer Gauntlet challenge???

the opposite for this weekend, for the reasons you mentioned.....

the only ones who might strike gold are the WNYers with their deep smallie fishing.....

Don't know about today, but yesterday Oneida was ON FIRE. After last week's Tube lesson with Noel, I was again fortunate to hook up with a Salt City veteran to hit Oneida for another try (thanks to Salt City VP Joe N). Temps were not bad, with variable winds (alternating from light to strong), Oneida gave up at least 50 fiesty Smallmouths in the 10 - 12 ft depts. What a blast! Good luck today.

Tell me about it

What a difference a week makes. I actually took a three day weekend last week to take advantage of Indian Summer and came out OK. :D This week my plans are more of the chopping wood variety. :( The inflatable boat has likely seen its last trip for the season, as the water will soon be too cold for it.

That said, I am debating hitting a local stream or two this weekend with gloves on and/or a heat pack in my sweatshirt pocket. I am just finding it hard to give up casting for the year. Between the weather and the dwindling daylight, this time of year is a bummer.:(

5bass did great on the Hudson

I believe that the more harsh the weather this time of year ...the better the fishing. Typical Indian Summer days confuse the fish and lead to uncertainty. It isn't as comfortable but a few 3 lbrs can keep you pretty warm!
