Pugs, I prefer Rabbit hair jigs but I do throw a white or white/chart bucktail with a little crystal flash on occasion. I like a 1/8oz model on 6lb hybrid. I use a Stradic 2500GH and a medium action 6ft Extreme spinning rod. Good set up. I never use a trailer with the jigs as I prefer to fish them slow around weed lines and other obstacles. I don't penetrate cover with them because they are notorious for hanging up. I only use jigs with Gamamkatsu or needle point Mustads on them. Most guys feel that you will lose a bunch of jigs and the high qualitly hooks are unnecessary. I think you should use the best you can because it will only translate into more hooked fish in the long run.
This jig is a combo bucktail and silicone jig I made a few years back for Stripers. It caught a few fish over 30lbs the first time I tried it. It is either 3/4oz or 1oz and I threw it on baitcasting gear with a pork strip.
