We've been talking about a Long Island get-together for a long time. Since Long Island is more kayak friendly than bass boat friendly and Troy is the most active kayak angler on here, I recruited him to get one started!

Isn't there something in the constitution about a man's right to grill!!?? Terrible.
Since when do our constitutional rights matter in this country anymore? LOL!

Lol! I think Hempstead lake would be a good idea, the fishing there is slowly coming back, and it has a good size parking area for everyone and a bbq spot.
The only prob with Hempstead is you need a permit which is affixed to the yak.

I have a few ideas also, but being Long Island isn't that big and lurkers read these post just to find some of the real good ones, I don't want to spot burn with idea discussions. We could always do forge though its not a secret spot, it's big enough, decent parking, and decent fishing at certain times.

I'm in. Forge would be nice but the parking is limited if we have more than a few guys. Ronkonkoma would work as well and we can BBQ there. I know most hate fishing there but it's a nice place to Yak, BBQ, and there IS some great fishing in there.

If someone here is a PLECO member we could launch from their beach. I canceled my membership when they stopped allowing guns on the property.

We could also get together and do Nissequogue River or even Carmens.

Where ever it is, I'm good.

@LIBASS I have 2 Yaks so no need to get one just for the get together. That goes for anyone on here as well. If anyone 'Yak-less wants to attend they can hop in my other one. It's all set up with rod holders, paddle and I even have a vest.

What about the weekend of May 17th. Bass season is closed but I was thinking maybe we could hit Blyndenburgh. The place doesn't get hit much from boats so I think we could do pretty well and it's a really nice paddle.

For those who have a cart the walk isn't bad at all. For those who don't, we can all pitch in and help carry.

Blydenburgh is open year round for bass, butfrom December 1 until June 1 it is catch and release only. This would be an excellent choice for the get together. Lots of large bass in this lake and I think there may be a place to grill. I believe there is a charge to use the park if you don't have a Suffolk Green Key pass.

Kencan, can non- residents of Suffolk fish this lake?

On the side with the hill (Vets to Brooksite, Brooksite to New Mill, New Mill to end), I've never seen anyone there checking residency. That is the spot where I launch. It's a walk but I have a cart and if there's a few people there we can help carry or we can just use my cart to bring them down.

I was there yesterday, the entrance is off of 25a and there's a 200 foot walk down to the water , it is semi crowded but not many people use kayaks. The fishing is good people pull big guys out all the time

I'm in for this get together tho let me know

How would June 28 or 29 work for you guys? We can either do Forge or Blydenburgh. I was worried about the parking at Forge but Jay made a good point that we can possible park behind each other. I'm not sure what the parking situation is a Blydenburgh but I'm going to check it out next weekend.
