I have fished the pond at the peconic rifle and gun club before with permission from the club. My friend is a Boy Scout an they do a skeet shooting program for the day. They invited me to go and said we can fish the pond. The pond is used only for duck hunting really. The fishing there is awesome for bass.
Its an old cranberry bog. A series of 3 ponds formed by dams. There's a hand launch about 50 yards up Mill Road. The dams are spill overs and you can pull a small jon over them. They're very shallow except for the channels which may be 4 feet deep or so. Very weedy. Its a decent early season spot as it heats up fast being shallow with a dark bottom. You can have some light tackle fun even in early April. Don't expect big fish, there not really enough water for hawgs, but there will big some respectable fish. Crappies and Pickerel too.
