as Gregg and I left my house in Mt Vernon this morning and meet up with Jeff at Whaley to take on the Indian summer gauntlet, we were walking around at 7 am with no jackets on.....

when I returned this evening, my wife was saying how she was outside with no jacket on working the garden....

but in between at Whaley, we had rain most of the day, overcast and a cool breeze that kind of took us by surprise....

the fish also, apparently, as Whaley was a tad off from last Sunday, however, being the great numbers lake that it is, we still put 40 in the boat, spearheaded by Greggs two 3 pounders.....

the deep water tube pattern was there....in spots....spotilly....lol....

there was a still prevailing hard jerk bite at times and Gregg came up with a doozy using a swim bait.....

Jeff as always was plugging away, pretty much relying on the tube......

I did a lot of cranking today and that paid off also......

the great tube bite was just not as good, however, it yielded all the biggest fish....

a new deli has just opened two miles down the road from Whaley, and we needed a hot coffee refill at midday, as the chill sort of caught us off guard, we were not dressed for what we found out there........

so, the Indian Summer took a day off where we were, but we still had a great day and put a bunch of creatures into the boat........

Just plain fun!

Even though the fishing was not as good as we expected the fun never stopped! I love fishing with these guy's. The laughs never seem too stop and we got to rag on John all day how can you beat that! LOL Greg was the Hog Hog today grabbing the top three Bass. But as allway's at whaley there was fish for everone! Thanks again guy's for another great day on the water!

What more fun, catching fish or ragging on John? Kind of a toss up! It's alway a fun day hanging with Jeff & John.

I couldn't crank up a fish today, but was hitting some nice bass on tubes and at the end of the day had a real flurry on a Storm swim shad.

Hey, I recognize that shoreline!! I believe the biggest bass we landed during the get together was in that stretch, as well as a nice 3 lber that swatted at my topwater but failed to connect.

We had that weather yesterday at Honeoye. We launched the boat with mid summerlike temps, near 68 or so, but loaded the boat in the afternoon with typical mid fall type temperatures, in the 40's or low 50's at best.

That's the far shore on the southern end, the fish had moved up from last Sunday out of the really deep water to the deeper part of that shoreline.

Noel: glad you recognize it pal!! doesn't it look beautiful with all the fall foliage? and I see you had the weather swing also.....weather is all about preparation...when you are expecting cold or rain, if you prepare for it you can handle it much better....

Fishing in the fall is so fantastic! we were the only bass boat on that water yesterday and last Sunday....almost like having your own 250 acre private lake all to yourself!

I am a good teaser, but with two guys on the boat hitting me with double salvos all day long, I must concede defeat! LOL........

That sure does look and sound like a great day Water looks good , foliage looks great , very decent fish and good friends ! Does it get better ? And about time guys started hitting John . hey John , remeber your hitting me ?? But that's a different story best kept betwen myself and John lol !!!

Scent for the Smoking fish

Earthy, It is all a plan The Nicotine scent gets all the bass that are nicotine addicts. You can catch alot of them but they get winded quickly and tend to Hock some nasty stuff up in the boat. LOL.
