Gauntlet

I try to take up the gauntlet every Sunday, regardless of the weather (barring lightning & ICEUP).

In general, I prefer to fish in lousy weather. A mild and windless trip was dissapointing last week. At least this weather will preclude hard water.

Good Luck John & all!

Wimpy TX Fisherman?
I Resemble that remark Doc, Us Tx guys, must fish when a TX is scheduled and not whenever we feel like going (sunny & warm). How many non TX guys will leave the house at 3 or 4 in the morning when its 35 degrees and pouring rain.
Okay, I wont be so hard on you. But remember that the TX guy IS fishing when most of the tournaments are over.
Gary
PS/ It will be warm and sunny this weekend and you know what I'll be doing.

You need to focus more on cavities and lay off the Tx guys. I am still fishing, and I'll bet that on the worst days this year I was out more often than you. You need to spend less time drawing distinctions between Tx guys and other fisherman because there is a lot we all can learn from one another. Please don't write this off to "LOL". Sometimes it sounds as though you really are trying to be-little the Tx guy. Maybe you need to spend the day in te boat with me? How about it?

Mitch: anytime my friend!

I am trying to get people's juices going and wake up this sleepy board...

SEE: I got YOUR juices going!!!!

all of the guys from this board that I look up to and try to learn from are all tournament fishermen......but that doesn't mean that I am not going to bust their chops!

you saw me there at the weigh in for Sculs halloween bash...I was just as excited as anyone coming to the weigh-in....

NOW: how about coming back on this forum and writing up a report about what you do this weekend, I'm sure most would love to see it and read it.....

there is a major and important distinction between the Tournament and REC fishermen on this board:

and that is this:

DURING AND FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE FISHING SEASON, THE TOURNAMENT ANGLERS DO NOT COME ON HERE AND WRITE UP ANY SPECIFICS ABOUT THE WATERS THEY COMPETE ON.....

this is not speculation, it is FACT......

Now: that the tournies are all over, and the weather is (so far) cooperating, I would love to see all the club guys come on and do some nice and interesting write-ups as they try to overcome the cold water temps and pull some more before we all have to pack it up this year......

Man, this could all end in a week, I have seen it before, we could go into a sudden and deep freeze that we never come out of....so I see this weekend as a blessing ........

last year at this same time of the year, all of the shallows were icing up over night and we already had several snow falls......

John,
How right you are....the sad reality is that next week all the NYC reservoirs are off limits to boats....I'm forced to call it a season, not because of weather but because of a DEP rule which I'm strongly opposed to....on the other hand, being the great guy that you are, I know you will lend me your boat so I can continue fishing....:D

HAHHAHAha....Ronnie, that is one of the problems with the Resevoirs when you get a mild Fall like this.....if you only have boats there and no car toppers or other portable jons then you are shite out of luck! LOL.......

Pray for a mild DEC and maybe we may yet get to trade blade baits together!!!

Paladin, thanks for the offer, but I am not sure if I am going fishing on Sunday. If I do, I will probably head out to Lake Welch. Your destination is a bit of a haul for me...and I am too damn lazy to get up early this time of year for fishing! LOL! Thanks again for the invite, I would love to go some other time.

4 hours not a fish in sight - Lake Isle

After fighting a moderate steady breeze for the first two hours today it moderated enough to drift without use of the motor. I tried everything again today. Mostly I used jig+pig in deep water trying to fish it slowly. I also threw a Rat L Trap, Rapalla Long cast minnow, Poe's diver in shad, some spoons, hell I even tried a Senko twards the end.

It was a beautiful sunny day - besides the family of ducks I had the lake to myself. Not a terrible way to spend 4 hours. Better then the afternoon of raking leaves.

Ouch, Doc !! man, that hurts....lol

I wish I could be out there sore-mouthing some fish, but sadly work for me right now has to take my attentions away from fishing, as I am now working seven days a week to make up for the trips to CA and ARK[combined for 19 days] I took just recently, and also since the credit card bills came in for such. Seems one always spends more than they think they will....LOL
Actually, I got a home repair/improvement/maintenance business, and I am overwhelmed with work at this time every year, right before the holidays hit, so I got to take it while it is there waiting to be 'plucked'. Helps fatten the bank account before the bills for the nice Xmas presents for the family , too, hit the account again. LOL
So I hope all of you can fish for me...and share the adventures [and knoweldge] here at the site, so I can savor the fun, too.
Tight lines to you all...

John,
We had 3 failed attempts to get together last month due to horrendous weather.
I would love to give it another shot....just give me the word !
