Stripers fishing's been OK in LIS.

Usually hammer the lower Connecticut River for stripers on topwater in June and the first half of July. This year, we got a few good trips in in early June, and then the river muddied up and hasn't cleared yet. The spring/early summer striper action in the river has been the worst we've ever seen. It no sooner got started, than it got killed by the mud. I think we had 2 productive trips inside the river in the 2nd week of June.

Out in the sound thought, it's gotten much better, as long as you stay away from the mud that's still coming out of the river. The guys who fish live bunker have been smoking them of late, but to me, resorting to live bait is kind of like admitting defeat. I'd rather catch a few schoolies on artificials than a big one on a bunker.
