Today we held our last event of the season our Early Bird for 2010.
We launched out of Waddington at 7 a.m. with weigh-in at 3 p.m. Weather Channel called for rain shower most of the day, but oddly enough they were wrong. We had a couple of sprinkles through out the day with very light winds and the sun popped out a few times for 30-45 minutes at a whack. All-in-all it was a very nice fall day to fish the river. Nineteen anglers fished the tournament.
In the areas I fished I found water temps 58 - 61 degrees. All of my fish came out of water between 14 - 5 feet deep. I caught three fish and my big fish a 3.46 lb. SMB on a Pointer 128 (Black & Gold) and I also used the LVR-D 7 (Mad Craw) and I mixed in a Carolina rigged 7" (green pumpkin) power worm to cull a couple of times. The best thing about the 128 Pointer is its drawing power, If a fish followed it to the boat but didn't hit, I'd simply let the fish go back down to the bottom and then I'd cast the C-Rig power worm and catch them.
Not sure what the other guys caught their fish on, but the top three weights were pretty close all in 15 lb. range and the big bass was a solid 4.57 lb. LMB
1st Place John Flint, 15.84 lbs.
2nd Place Fred Morrill, 15.80 lbs.
3rd Place Burnie Haney, 15.12 lbs.
Lunker Chuck Roach, 4.57 lbs.
