3X super plastics

Does anyone use these new plastics? I have experimented with them a little and I draw two conclusions......1- you can't use dye with them and 2-They do not hold scent well. While the idea of not having to change a bait often does appeal, I do not think that these baits will ever come close to the popularity that standard soft plactics have.

Craig
Believe I read something in the latest Bass Times about dying these and applying scent. Needed a special type of dye if I remember right. Posting from work, so will check it out tonight.

I,ve used them several times this year and had good successwith them. i tried the fry, lizard, and the fluke.

they all work good but found that they are very soft so it is highly recomended that you use a R bend hook to hold the bait in place.
Another thing to add is they are one of the most boyant bait that i've ever seen. the fluke is like fishing with a bobber....lol

I noticed that they get sticky like. Strange.....probably the toxic material that will kill all of us in twenty years or so.

EW, If you C-rig they work pretty good. They stick to themselves too much. IMHO. I put them in the long line of "Hot New" baits that come our each year some are good some are not.

Earthy, they suck worse than Senkos! Whatever you do...do not take them out of the package and put them in any plastic tackle box or near any other plastics. They will melt into a ball of goo! No good for pitching, as the get stuck on anything. Some success drop shotting and probably good for c-rigging.

I have an bunch of them but I use them EXCLUSIVELY on Carolina Rigs. They float so readily that I feel that in that application they're superior. I did recently buy some of their floating "trick" worms but haven't used them yet. I used to fish the Zoom Trick Worm all the time and had success with it. I got away from it the past few years but thought I would try these 3x deals in that application.

As other's have mentioned, they get very very sticky when wet - when I tried them on Texas rigs they stuck to every bit of grass and twig they came into contact with. Once, I wrapped a 3x worm around a Cattail and when trying to pull it free, I stretched the darn thing out three feet before it finally let loose then it sling-shotted back at me and almost hit me in the face.

Tips from Shaw

FYI
On page 23 of the August Bass Times Shaw Grigsby notes he uses Slime -It aerosol to put a coat of oil on these baits to overcome the tendency to stick together. Also says Spike-It's Cyber Glo spray Dye works on this type of plastic.
I've tried the lizard without much sucess, and would definitly like to try something to keep it from sticking to itself.

bassin dude: the 3x trick worm is no comparison to the zoom trick worm....the zoom is far greater in my opinion

They stick worse than your yam bag against your thigh on a hot humid August afternoon.

bassindude: i use the trick worm t-rigged with light weight, weightless, and wacky rigged. the 3x floats entirely too high, and the plastic makes it difficult to get a good hook set when t-rigged. 3x is also completely useless for drop-shotting of any kind.

i would love to see a 3x hula grub though

BigRed, they are not entirely useless for drop-shotting. This pig gobbled up a 3X tube.

for me though, the 3x trick worm floats so high, that i cant get the kind of action out of it, that i could from some northern hand poured.
