A comedy of errors!!!
Went out on Whaley this
past Sat. About 50 degrees.
As I was the only boat left on the water,I
figured it was about time to take it out this weekend.
It was cold here Mon. and Tues., but I figured it would take a while to get
real bad. Yesterday at
I got down there and saw an ice skating pond...the whole lake frozen with thin
ice........I started banging away with an oar.
I then filled a 5 gal.bucket halfway with water and
started banging away with that. I then called my son and and
one of my workers to help. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get to the launch ramp, where the 3 of us,assisted my Dominic and 2 of his workers managed to get
the boat on my trailer. Dom said Whaley freezes
over very fast,as I found
out the hard way.
It's one thing to be a diehard,it's
another to be an a-hole.
I will have to be content with reading and watching videos of bass fishing, along with outdoor shows
and Bass U.in Jersey.
Not to mention the get together at the restaurant.

Mike , you have all of that very shallow
water all along the shorelines, and especially around the marina, yes that will
freeze rapidly....
oh well!! I guess that ends Whaley for the year, however, I am hoping that
Mahopac is still open as they are talking about 40 something degrees plus on
Sunday......
Pat, if you are out there, is there any ice on Maho
right now?

don't want to start a debate, but don't
you think "dom" should have called you
sooner and advised you there was a chance for ice?-i

Mike...
Yeah, I kinda 'blew it' as well.
I usually have my 12' boat turned over by now - I just did it tonight, after
removing a couple hundred pounds of snow from it. Added fuel stabilizer to the
remaining fuel and I'll fog the outboard's cylinders sometime in the next few
days.
Nice, thick ice on the bottom of the hull, and the boat weighed about twice as
much as it usually does. Kind of a pain to flip over on the trailer, and my
hands felt like two ice blocks when I was done. ![]()
I was hoping to keep my boat open in case I needed a quick Conesus Lake
Smallmouth drift, but I pushed my luck too far, and we had about 12 inches of
snow here the other day.
Conesus is on the verge of icing up now, so I guess the "MicroBass" is done until spring. ![]()
Tight Lines...

Mike....Remember this
excerpt from a previous post?
"Or be safe...
And put the rig away.
Your boat is too nice to worry about "hard" water surrounding
it."
Hard water equal ice.
Remember to pull the drain plug as well !!!!!
Hope to see you soon

Paul,
No. I haven't been out for over a week due to the nasty conditions outside.
Last year December was my best month. Hope to get another crack at um
yet.......Check the saltwater page for details.

Pete.....shhhhhh
They THINK I stop thinking about it. Ever since I met
up with this motly crew this year every outing we
planned the weather turned to $#!^ !
Ponquogue Bridge Sept with JPSurf
and friends cold, rainy, windy........no fish (except some shad)
Montauk early Oct. JPsurf Frank from Ronko Mark G and friends...40-50 mph winds......trip
cancelled.
Make up trip late Oct......same crew. 30+ mph winds capt
tried to talk us out of making him take us.....we didnt
budge.......8-10 ft seas only a few of us hooked up. (Me and Frank and JP's
Dad) and I won 2nd in pool and $110 This is when they
started not liking me.
Jones inlet with JPBASS various dates scrubbed due to ...you guessed
it.........wind !
Finally make it out on what looks to be a nice day until day before.......and
the wind jacks up to 20+ we finally made it out though because JP and JP had
about enough of my $#!^...........thank goodness because we managed a few
decent bass and a fiesty blue.....
2 weeks ago trip cancelled due to NorEaster and last
weekend it freakin snowed !!!!!!!
They think that it will get nasty everytime I think
about going with them........imagine that.
Thus.........baseball
