NyBass.com Outdoes Itself at 1st Bass Univ Seminar!!!!

what was a unique event for a dot com board to begin with, turned out to be the biggest get together we have had so far!!

we had about 45 people all together including the speakers, and it was such a fabulous event, I really don't know where to begin on how nice the day was!

I will say that Mike Hogans restaurant, Casa Miguel, was a great place and perfect for what he had there, Mike was such a generous host, the food was good and plentiful, and for 10 bucks a head, including the speakers, you couldn't find a better bargain.

Mike DelVisco, our featured speaker was just terrific with his enormous screen and presentation....Mike had to speak and RUN as he had a 12 hour drive to Indianapolis right after us for his next engagement.....Mike, I can't thank you enough for what you did for all of us...and the content: WOW.....some dynamite sonar and deep water instructions...

Earthworm was the most fidegety and nervous I have ever seen him in anticipation of getting up there with his presentation, however, once he got going, Craig defied Flop Sweat, and gave a wonderful presentation on Shallow, that's right, Shallow drop shotting, along with a ton of giveaways to the audience.

After a delicious lunch break, my secret weapon, Postcard ( Frank M), and his "sidekick" John, captivated the audience with what I described as a Mad Scientist Lab of Lure tinkering and tweaking. I mean, these two guys had some of the most ingenious variations and suggestions with both wire and plastic, that they had all of us in amazement!

Mike Delvisco left us a huge bag of Yammie giveaways, and Wild Bill also had a box of snagproof and assorted goodies that we raffled off to several lucky people.

I forgot to mention the donuts and bagels and coffee the first hour as everyone came in and met....

Again, hard for me to describe all that transpired today, it was kind of overwhelming including a presentation I received from Paul and some guys of a dynamite fishing set up for appreciation of my work with NyBASS which just bowled me over!

To all the people who helpe with this thing: Tim, Mike, Pete, our speakers, commuterBill bringing the small aquariums, etc and so on, I can't thank you all enough for making this one of the most special events we have ever had......

I thought I had met everyone in creation, but I met a lot more today!

I'll let everyone else come on with their own comments and fun...

JOHN G

just a great and unique day-

my congratulations to the people who organized the event-not an easy task-

thanks mike for the generous use of your restaurant-

and thanks for the speakers for making it so interesting-the day just flew by-

a truly wonderful day-

just a thought regarding sonar questions to mike and questions in general-why not post your questions on this thread instead of e mailing mike individually?-this way he only has to answer in one place and it would eliminate duplicate questions--we can e mail him and tell him to look here-this way everyone can share the question and answer-what do you think?---bobn--2/16--6pm

ps or better yet-set up a separate thread just for questions to eliminate all the cross talk

A unreal event that will have me tweaking my drop shot, tearing apart baits, and finally understanding sonar. Great bunch of people. Scully you were missed as well as Kenny C. Proud to be a part of NYB!! Rob Meg receives the Iron Woman award . Thanks for coming!

NYBASS does it again!

Remember the 1st and 2nd Mahopac Get together? Those were unreal. But todays gathering was just special and unique for one reason. INFORMATION! A lot of it. And everybody came out of Mike H's Casa Miguel full and contented. And Im not even talking about the superb food !. Excellent accomodations and service provided by its staff.

A lot of faces and names to remember. Laughs and good natured ribbing. One way to spend a cold, February Sunday- with NY BASS.

My congratulations to all of our speakers. Great job! Mike D, Craig , Postcard. We are all grateful.

Also to TVal for the planning and logistics.

John G...we cant thank you enough....NYBASS is here because of you.

Good to see the old and new faces. I cant keep up with the names...lol

It was a really fun day!

Thanks to Mike for providing the meeting place, and the wonderful food. Thanks to Mike D, Earthy, postcard and his frined for the presentations. They were great. I really learned alot about sonar, and now in order to put it to use, I just need a boat!
It was great to see Scott C, Gregg, Earthy, Rob, Robbie, Pete L, Bobn, Paul, Nick the Rat, Dean, The Other Scott, Woody, Joe P my fellow Falcon friend, Jeff, Mike D the NYB photog, John, and everyone else. It was also nice to meet Paul HS,Mike our host, Tina, BARRY, Frank from RO, the other Joe, Dennis, and everyone in general.

Some things I learned:
1. Barry and I should never sit together-he might be 39, but he sure acts like a teenager, and it's CONTAGIOUS! Love ya Barry.
2. People who drive in the left lane should atleast go the speed limit, preferably 20-30 MPH over it
3. After 4.5 hours in the car, Earthy's handpours permeate every fabric known to mankind. The cats have never been so happy to see me-must be the craw scent...Thanks for the box Craig!
4.Robbie's car has this cool light feature, but apparently, it doesn't mean there's a message?
5. The NYBass guys are a great bunch. Well, I already knew that, but this outing cemented that fact.
6. Mapquest does NOT give good directions, but Paul Mattie does!
7. After 7 cups of coffe, one might be awake, but those frequent stops really take alot of time off the average..

Thanks guys, it was fun!

hey meg-i was thinking of you and that trip home--glad you are safe and sound-it's starting to snow here and it's going to be a real blizzard-seems like everyone made it ok-a good nite not to be out on the roads--bobn--2/16--9:25

Ahhh....Meg....you got wigglege....( thanks, Earthy for some ghetto talk lesson...LOL)

Try the 6/7 Wacky Worm Rod, Meg. Im sure the Cara series has it, too. Very versatile rod. Could almost do anything with it.

And yes. Us Lab Techs dont like snooty RN's......but I like you!!!

Hey Y'all,

Had a great time, this is exactly what it's all about. I wish I had the chance to stay and chat and also get to listen to all the other seminars. As it turned out I made it out of town at the right time. I made it to
Western PA and am currently waiting out the storm.

Thanks to everyone who made this a great success, John G, Tim, Mike Earthy, Mike D etc. You can definitley count me in next year no matter how busy I am.

Good Fishin'

Mikeyd

ps. BobN had agreat idea of posting questions in a thread, let's do that and I will try my best to answer all.

Posted by TVal on 2003 AM:

Thumbs upGreat day

Glad to finally meet all of you. My only regret is I didn't have more time to chat 1 on 1 with everyone. Hope to do that on the water. Thank god this blizzard held off till everyone got home safe.
Maybe coming in to work today ( the rest of the office staff took the day off) will get me a few brownie points with my boss, and I can take a few wednesdays off to go fishing. Plus I have a new lunch destination, Casa Miguel, when I'm traveling that way on business.
Really makes you appreciate the power of the internet, when you can pull together such a diverse a group of people, from such a vast area, all with the common interest of bass fishing.

My Thanks go out to one and all who put the whole day together. It says alot about the Bass fishing community when you can get a bunch of folks together who have basically never met before and it seems like we just got together with a bunch of old friends.
It was great to shake a few hands with some of the people I've chatted with in the past;
Woody, we have serious plans this season.I'll e-mail you my Tx schedule for our pre-fishing campaign, was a pleasure my freind.
Meg,Was a pleasure, enjoy the blade,if you'd like me to sing for you on
Oneida one day, drop me a line. The sides of the bait are extremely important!
Rob,Your baits are done!!
Wild Bill,Big Guy,Big Fish Guy,Just what I expected,keep in touch.
My apologies to Postcard,Frank. Mike and I had a customers house wide open in
Lloyd Harbor and they were calling our houses non-stop with the coming storm,We had to get there before sundown just to calm them down.

Thanks again all and see you all at the Candlewood thing...><>...HS

Scott C's nametag said F-Dean so it got Dean pretty popular. I had a great time. I really can't say anything that hasn't been said. It was worth the long drives and loss of sleep bigtime. I had a great time meeting many different people including Meg, Gregg, Bassrat, Dean, Joey P and finally the head honco, evil tyrant, and Nybass King of King Arthurs Court: the one the only John G! He is also added into the baron von Loomis club!LOL I met many other people that were great as well and had a real nice time. Thanks to all. - Joe A (or to Meg, the other Joe)LOL

Guys, I had fun although I was nervous speaking in front of so many people. I've done a seminar or two before but for 20 guys or less. Thanks for hanging in with me. I really went off the cuff as I've been getting ready for NY's impending doom last week with all of the anticipated terror warnings. I really would have liked to been more prepared but as Woody said, I'm my own biggest critic. Anyway, Great to see everyone. Mike Del. did a great job and Mike H was a great host. Awesome food. Funny that a few guys mentioned BURP!!!! Right Northbass??? Great to talk with John, Wood, Robbie, Jeff, Meg(who made out like a bandit) better send me some baby blankets, Scott E, Joe A and Joe P, Nick, F-Dean, Leigh, Scott C, Tina, Frank, Hooked, Mike D, Mike K, Bill, Canoe, Bob, SRDFish and forgive me for leaving the rest out.
Next time I'll do the legendary Jig and Hamster presentation. Can't believe I actually won a raffle, I'm the king of never winning anything.....by chance anyway. Happy that you guys liked the Samples I gave out. Who was the lucky guy who won my dropshot box????
Scully, I missed you bro!!!! Pat, if you read this, Mike took a couple of jigs for you, problem is I think you'll never see them, his eyes opened really wide when I passed them to him. I said " Could you please give these to Pat when you see him??" His reply was not too convincing! Way to go guys, nice show!

We're talking about "Spring" fishing...... right?

Posted by postcard on 2003 PM:

What can I add to all that's been so well expressed. I'm speechless (for a change.)
It sure beats going to the Rockland Expo and getting jostled around by strangers rushing to save $.50 on a bargain-bin lure.
The audience was courteous, supportive and forgiving.

Like Craig, when JohnG approached me at the door and said that I was going to be a substitute speaker, icy fingers went up and down my spine! (John and I were only going to sit in a dark corner and demo a few tackle ideas after the last speaker.)

But, after a few minutes of intros to various members, I knew the event was going to be a huge success in every way that was already mentioned by all. I immediately felt the comraderie of people who weren't just killing time or escaping cabin fever. If ever there was a new bass club to join, I would want everyone I met to be in it.

The size of the room was just right! No one could escape volunteering, which helped keep everyone's attention. (You never knew if you were going to be next!) Hopefully the demo objects and demos got the central ideas across. Feel free to ask any question about anything presented in a post or e-mail.

The info and generosity by the morning speakers (Mike and Craig), was outstanding. Thanks Craig, for dispelling the theory that Senkos are not the only cigar able to catch fish!
Thank you JohnG for putting me on the spot at the last minute! But, it was well worth it, to be able to share ideas with a receptive and very, appreciative group of fellow anglers. You're welcome in my boat anytime, anywhere!

Regards,
McGuyver and his sidekick

To all my new friends......I cant wait to get out on the water with you all someday....and the offer stands to come to LI to fish the salt this year....I would love to put you guys on some back bay fish.
