6.5 and 5.4lber on Congers Lake

I hit Congers Lake with my Dad for most of the day starting at around 10:30. I pitch jigs all through the cabbage and a couple of rock walls. I got a 2lber of a rock wall and then lost an absolute slob on the outer edge of some pads. Damn! I switched to a spinnerbait and then worked the north end of the lake. I was throwing my spinnerbait on my crankbait set-up to force me to slow down with the 5:1 gear ratio. Of course, I only have 10 lb test on that reel. I slow rolled my Terminator by the edge of some pads and was greeted by a fish. Finally...feels pretty good....it is a slob.... Holy Sh.......Get the net......!!!!! This freakin' thing bulldogged me in and out of the pads, but I finally got her in the net. A beautiful 6.5lb slob! Here is the pic!

Just a minute before I retrieved my spinnerbait from the bottom of the lake as it broke of when I was caught in a tree. I had just re-tied! Thank God!

Within a half hour I decided to work some offshore pads that I never...I mean never catch anything from. Well there is a first time for everything. Evidently, this 5.4lb pig lives out there! Picture doesn't really do her justice!

I was psyched! Unfortunately, the rest of the day was slow. I only got another 3 fish on buzzbaits around the 5-6 o'clock time frame. But those pigs made my day!!!

Thumbs upRidiculous

Absolutely ridiculous. How many lbs in the last week?

My local hot spot flatlined on me after a promising stretch last week. I guess this cold snap has put a severe case of lockjaw on the fish. I've woken up to 30 degree mornings every day for the last week!

But you are just on fire! Keep it up and cotinue with the great pics and reports.

What are you complaining about Huge? If it had been me, I would have just called it a day, gone to the nearest sportsbar and started bragging.

NIIICE FISH, TWICE! You are on fire, man.

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huge,

You got my vote for NYBass fisherman of the year. Its not about quantity, its about QUALITY!

In this tough year of fishing, you definitely brought in some quality fish.

You seem to be on fire lately on any lake you fish.

You are probably tied with Vic (Yankees Rule) as far NYBass fisherman of the year. He also put up some Quality fish over there at Kensico. I haven't heard any reports from him lately.
I hope his back is alright.

Great fish and great pics as usual,

MikeYac

the photos are incredible. i notice the bent arm in the top photo, but the fish looks almost too big... then the spinnerbait shows the reality. it is a big fish!!! nice photos!

Thanks for all the compliments guys! It has been a long time since I broke the 6lb barrier. That fish was truly a healthy hog. The 5.4 was beautiful as well. Back to reality today on Kanawaukee. I only managed 4 keepers and a damn pickerel. Tomorrow Welch!

By the way, for those not familiar with Congers, it has a maximum depth of 3-4 feet! What a goofy lake!

Great photos! Love that thumbs up attitude! You are certainly one of the most versatile anglers I know, always able to make something happen on the water. Try a Senko, and that versatility could very well "disappear" my friend......LOL! :p
