Ice sculpture...

In my web ramblings, I came across this photo of an ice sculpture so touching that I felt the need to share it here, especially because it hits home for so many of us, and because many downstaters were closely involved with the aftermath of September 11th.

Although I am largely not as religious as many people, I found myself staring at this picture. It appears that it was not made for some special event and doesn't seem to be put on display in a crowded public area. It looks as though someone made it in front of a house and out of the pure kindness of the heart. It is both breathtaking, yet sobering.

Warm wishes...

bobn,

I did some digging and found out that it was done by a woman, unnamed thus far, in
Timmins, Ontario.

That's absolutely beautiful. Thanks Rob for sharing.

bobn, That should look like a New York Firefighters helmet. Maybe it's not actually from the city but it is a New Yorker. Cairns Mfg. the manufacturer, built that helmet many years ago specifically for the city of
New York firefighters. It is warn by many different departments throughout the US and Canada but no matter where it is worn it is called "The New Yorker". Originally they were all made from leather. Not too many years ago OSHA entered the scene and today most are made from Lexan but some of the old timers still wear the leather.

Rob,
Thanks for the picture. That lady is one hell of an artist.

Glenn,
Very interesting bit of info on the helmets. Leather is the only way to go. I'm on my 2nd one, someone stole my original one.
