PS...Rob, does PIR stand for Para-Infantry Regiment? I Never heard that before.

no apology necessary.....

yes PIR is parachute infantry regiment - that is the official title of the unit. 1 battalion /504PIR 2nd battalion /504PIR

jerry daves was the brother of rodney daves (1st SOCOM) a squad mate in my unit. jerry was executed on a trail while walking a forward point, and left on the trail as a message. we rode dirt bikes all over NC as he was stationed right up the road from us. we were about 3/4 mile down ardennes rd.

you never forget the name of the guys you served with, or the names of the places you were stationed. my first barracks was on smoke bomb hill.

everything you did, and you family members did, and all other vets did was to maintain our freedom in the
US. we have a great country, and way of life. freedom to make our own choices.

good job boys and girls.

cant ever forget

Rob

Not a day goes by when I dont think of
Viet Nam. I dont dream about it as much as I once did. Not bad dreams, just dreams that I was still on duty and they were sending me back in country....nooooooooooooooo. lol

I know the drill, I feel for your friend. Had 3 good ones in my company, we were all hit on the same day during a CA into a hot LZ (June 14th, 1969) in the
Ashaw Valley north of Hue. Thank God we all made it back to the world in one piece.

A little something you may get a kick out of. The four of us had nicknames....Lion, Tiger, Bear, and O'My. lol I was Tiger. I still here from them at Xmas time, but we havent had a reunion since 1983. Hard to get us all together. I MISS them, and choke up when I think of the 4 of us and those times. A closeness you cant put into words.
